Anna's comment: I usually don’t recommend people to have dim sum within hotels, but this one is an exception. The environment and dishes here are very Cantonese and prices are very reasonable.

Holiday Seafood Lunch at Lamma Island

Lunch date: May 12, 2008
Occasion: Holiday Seafood lunch

Number of People: Two
Cost: HK$535 (US$69), no service charge

Restaurant name: Lamma Hilton
Restaurant address: 26 Sok Ku Wan, Lamma Island, Hong Kong
Restaurant telephone: 852-2982-8241
Anna's comment: We took speed boat to Lamma Island for an authentic Hong Kong style seafood lunch. The prices here are far more economic than restaurants in town. We picked live seafood from the tanks and eat at a seaside table. A very scenic and relaxed holiday lunch. We even took a leisure walk from Sok Ku Wan to Yung Shu Wan, before we head back to Central.

Steaming is the simplest way of Cantonese cooking. Freshiest ingredients are best to be cooked by steaming - see our seafood photos here.

Occasion: To celebrate our ROI from the stock market

Cost: HK$1,512 (US$194), inclusive of 10% service charge

Restaurant name: Sportful Garden Restaurant
Restaurant address: 8 Fleming Road, Wanchai, Hong Kong
Restaurant telephone: 852-2258-7688
Anna's comment: We aimed at seafood tonight, but didn’t feel happy. The waiter tried to convince us to take the over size swimming fish which we didn’t want to, as it was too big for four persons. To compromise, we ordered the panopea abrupta which wasn’t our first choice. The lobster noodle was really below par, however extremely expensive (HK$780). The vegetable also didn’t taste good. Waste of money!

May 4 Dim Sum Lunch

Today is May 4th Movement 89th Anniversary. Well, it has nothing to do with eating, but it is a Sunday, so I go on a dim sum lunch, as usual. Tanyoto serves authentic Sichuan cuisine, however with some localised Cantonese dim sum. Today I have a combination of both and some of the dishes really look nice and tastes yummy.
